View submission: SD card as “boot drive” ?
Not if it’s an SSD connected v USB3, which would have way faster read/write speeds compared to a card. Done it for years.

This 👆. OP: Swapping to an external SSD means you can get rid of the micro SD card entirely. These cards have a limited life span compared to a proper SSD. It's not hard to move away from using unstable, limited life span and relatively slow micro SSD to the speedy and longevity of a proper storage medium.
