It's possible they're just exceeding the GitHub Pages monthly usage limits[1]. I did a little math, and I'd say that over around 1 million hits per month could push them over, and that hit count is within the realm of possibility.

Total shot in the dark here, but perhaps they didn't like how it enabled people to fetch deleted/removed Reddit posts and comments.
In that case, just wait until GitHub discovers the Pushshift API that Camas is based off of...
