it should be stretched out with no wrinkles if possible, evenly lit with no shadows. The color of your chromakey background doesn't matter as long as it doesn't match anything in the foreground. Since it's a still image, just having a different color background should give enough contrast. If you look at their feet, you will see that the black material on the background overlaps the black on the guy's pants. I'd try to avoid stuff like that.
BTW, the muppets originally used a black chromakey background because many muppets had green fabric that would blend into the key. I think they may have used other colors as well.
