View submission: Lady Gaga Monologue - SNL
I’m kinda impressed that she acknowledged the R. Kelly collab in the monologue. Judging by how hard she’s worked at removing every trace of it from the internet, I wasn’t expecting her to voluntarily bring it up. The entire R Kelly saga is a bit of a stain on her relatively-unproblematic legacy, so I respect that she owns it.

I was glad she brought it up. The R. Kelly collab always screamed trauma-based/cry for help to me—R. Kelly wasn’t even the only known predator she collaborated with during that period; she was weirdly attached to Terry Richardson too. Being able to self-deprecatingly joke about it means she’s moving past the pain.

Considering what a daring, boundary pushing artist she is, she has to be the most unproblematic and beloved singer in the industry

I was also SHOCKED she brought it up because she also doesn't even talk about it.
