When I find out an actor/actress doesnt have social media, it intrigues me. Like Saoirse Ronan for example

Kind of like going back to the 90s and early 2000s, when the only way to find out about a celeb's personal life was through tabloids or magazines. I agree.

But then again, it's because of social media and the lack of this "curtain", that we learned so many celebs are problematic assholes...

This is why he tells 1 truth and 2 lies in every interview.

Celebrities with social media often reveal themselves as idiots tbh.

I think that's wishful thinking on his part. People love celebrity culture and gossip and quite a few are obsessed with it. Some devour gossip, others see it as a naughty treat, or as deserved break from "serious" media. Either way, the demand for more celebrity culture will never fade

Of course there will always be some who wish we could all know less about each other, but they're in the minority. Always have been, always will be.

Yes! As much as I love to read things about celebs sometimes it’s too much. I do love when I listen to a podcast that one of my faves went on though and they share bits of themselves cuz they aren’t chronically online and we rarely see them out, it’s like a little treat and then we don’t hear from them again until the promote something else lol

I used to watch the Kardashians and one day I just watched and thought “huh, I feel like we shouldn’t know any of this, it feels too personal and I don’t understand why it’s on tv” 😅

shouldn't be too hard

stay off social media

don't live in LA

during interviews don't reveal too much personal stuff - watch old johnny carson interviews, celebrities just had regular conversations

I guess everything should be in moderation. I think there are celebs who use social media as way to promote the work they do rather than just mindlessly promoting themselves.

Mystique is never gonna work in celebrity culture lol even back then when mystique was supposedly a thing. People still knew about celebrity business

Alot of outrage about celebrities is that they are in the publics face all the time. On the tvs , on billboards. , everywhere. The Paparazzi shouldn't be a thing. No group of people should be going around filming celebrities . Magazines should not be posting about them either. There should be no STAR magazine

It's a nice take, but not what I think is happening. While the people were obsessed with celebrities and their lifes, they were also the only ones being published in the media. Nowadays I don't need to read about the boring lifes of the pretty and famous, I can just watch the livestreams of obnoxious crazy people, which are doing the most insane and sometimes even entertaining shit. Celebrities just don't got nothing on redneck Steve throwing olives in the air, shooting them with an AR-15, while counting the spots on his cows to prove that the earth is indeed flat.

I don't think it will ever be like the 90s and 00s again. The internet, smartphones, and social media have changed how people keep up to date with pop culture and celebrities.

The only way I see it going back in any way to how it was in the past is if they start charging a subscription for social media or news sites and that will come with a whole new set of problems and criticism.

The fandoms who have the most toxic fans are footballers and actors/musicians that appeal to teenagers and young adults. As celebrities age out of appealing to that demographic, the interest in them and their private lives slowly dwindles. It's a cycle.

There are things they can do whilst they are in the spotlight to decrease media interest, such as not living in the city, limiting how much they talk about their private life, cutting down on PDA, and not having social media or posting very little etc.

It was so much better in the 90s and early 2000s before social media destroyed the mystery of celebrity

I think the whole celebrity culture needs to die. Why do these people get away with so much when there are people out there who actually deserve respect: nurses, doctors, fire fighters and etc. Many of these famous a..holes also behave simply disgustingly towards other people. Why on earth does society allow them to behave like this and indulge them? Is their positive contribution to the development of society really that great? I would say some celebrities even stop development and roll it back.

What is needed isn't a mystery, but quality.
