God, freedom and immortality - three of the key concerns of metaphysics - were given short shrift by major philosophical movements in the twentieth century. Yet, not in Australia. In a talk delivered this year at the Melbourne Writer's Festival, the philosopher John Bigelow of Monash University looks at why metaphysics is big down under.

You can't tell anyone in Australia you study philosophy without having this program recommended to you, and they're right!! It's a very well put together program. Reliably very interesting topics, and no indulgence, straight to the content. Being ABC means they're conscientiously working to legal ethical guidelines (which occasionally leads to 'enlightened centerisim' in some of their reporting, but philosophy is pretty resilient to bullshit). And at only half an hour it leaves you hungry for more.
I strongly recommend it to anyone interested in anything.
I look forward to giving this a listen.

Interesting talk.
Ancient Greeks = all that exists is atoms and the void.
Science = all that exists is energy in different states/forms/patterns of "congealed" energy.
Me = all the above, however, beyond all that exists is unknowable. The paradox of knowing the unknowable. Welcome to the Absurd[1]. Population? All that exists. However don't give up trying to know or at least trying to create meaning in the midst of the desert; right Sisyphus?

Would you say that the primary function of philosophy is to organize the bullshit ideas of other philosophers or to generate new bullshit?
