Wait, he wrote Being and Time *after* he was a Nazi? Didn’t it come out in 1927? If that’s the case, why do we even begin to criticize him for being a member of the party? As far as I know, all the horrendous things we know about Nazi Germany occurred in the 1930s and onward. I could be mistaken, though.

Just looked it up. Like I had previously thought, Heidegger joined the party in 1933, six years after he published Being and Time. He remained a member throughout World War II (although wikipedia claims that he was an active member for only one year). Therefore, in my opinion, the scrutiny he faces is warranted, and even necessary.
