This definitely feels like a stress test of their broadcasting infrastructure in preparation for a larger-scale rollout. Otherwise it would be an enormous waste of time and effort.

Yeah, because what reddit definitely needs is all the Periscope and Twitch spazzes. I guess having all the Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Tumblr ones wasn't enough.
