This is a coin representing the 8th Imam Ali Raza(of twelver shia), great great great grandson of Hazrat Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet PBUH. He reigned over Iran for some time, during which coins of his name were struck. People keep these coins, a representation of those, with them as a sacred item. It's sacred because of its history and connection to the Imam, and extension in connection to the Prophet.

8th Imam, Imam Ali Reza coin, usually people distribute them with written ziyarat on the card in Meelad mehfil of Imam.
