It'll be interesting to see how this statement ages.

For those who missed it, Tim Jago saying "these are people who want to be victims, they're searching for victimhood status".

ACT very much wanted to try direct survivors to an avenue that they controlled, that wouldn't result in charges - plus an avenue that ensured they were the first who had all the detail about the allegations so they could figure out the best way to spin the situation publicly.

They were in no way interested in doing right by the abuse survivors. This was self-preservation.

Of course they are. The party for paedophiles and abusers stands by its tactics to protect known sexual predator Tim Jago.

The same party that covered up sexual abuses going on in Young ACT.

The same party whose leader sends auto deleting messages to teenagers.

ACT stands for predators.

Edit: removed hyperbole

Putting aside the fact that the ACT Party tried to pawn the survivors off to an employment lawyer who was affiliated to said party, why don't we ask ACT the same questions they demanded of Labour?

Did they follow the law in dealing with those allegations?
Did they discourage young people from approaching Police?

And can the media pick up on the serious allegations that Eli Gammeter has made? Considering she's also a survivor of sexual assault within the ACT Party, her voice really should carry some weight.

‘“I’m very confident that facing a very difficult situation, which, as it turns out, turned on some tragic circumstances, we did everything that we could that an organisation in our position faced.” David seymour

Im pretty confident that if i was leading any sort of company, org or political party and was told of such offensive criminality, my first response would be 1) recommend the person talks to the police, 2) talk to the police myself.

Getting a complainant to talk to the lawyer whos on the payroll is EXACTLY what dodgy churches facing sexual criminal complaints have done. Multiple times through recent history. Its not like this is some sort of mystery situation where ‘the wrong way to handle it’ hasnt happened many times already

Wanna to say something about bootcamps and disturbed children. I'm not gonna do that. It makes me feel sad just thinking about it.

Don't worry gang they hired a lawyer to investigate themselves and they found ACT did nothing wrong.

ACT abuses children through policy decisions as well as hiding sexual predators

A difficult decision? The party of law and order was put in a difficult position??

Since when is making the only moral and ethical decision open at that point in time difficult??

Aww, sorry, I forgot a minute who I was talking about. ...

I’m willing to bet this is just the tip of the iceberg! This guy was asking for donations to fund his visits overseas to nations like Africa to work with youth under the guise of sports. Maybe he figured out offending in your own backyard isn’t smart. I have a gut feeling that this predator likely offended more than the two times he has been charged with.

Act cannot just simply wash its hands of this. I can only imagine what they would be saying if it was a different political party in this predicament.

It's a classic pedo playbook:

"No need for the police, we'll handle this in-house. Come and sit down with our ~~gaslighting-hush-money man~~ victim-advocate"

lets all remember "tough on crime" but somehow apparently maoris in particular, and then whats worse,

"ACT will ensure tougher sentences for crime in the workplace." IN THE WORKPLACE? AS IN YOUR BOSS COMMITTING HEINOUS CRIMES? seems like David Seymour can't be consistent with policies

Despite to David Seymour trying to conflate this with “guilt by association” that is not what is happening - people are rightly questioning how the Party and Seymour responded to the allegations.

If you go back to the press release issue when Tim Jago resigned, which we now know was coerced following the police laying charges.

He has resigned due to “other commitments” … “we thank Tim for his service”

Never thank a sex offender David!

We also know that back in 2020~21 he was investigated for financial mismanagement at a surf lifesaving club. So sex offending aside it also raises questions about Acts hiring process and where they dig these people up from.

If someone is informing me about a serious crime, my first inclination is NOT to consult a lawyer. It's to inform the Police.

Speaks volumes about Seymour's mindset.

ACT must pay the political price for a child molester in its leadership.

As did The Christian Heritage Party of New Zealand.

It disbanded in 2006 after the leader Graham Capill going to jail for committing sex crimes against children.
