It almost definitely was racially motivated, but it seems preferable for the authorities to avoid publicly speculating until they have evidence to back up the speculation.

That Rabbi that got murdered ended up not being racially motivated — so I guess it's fair to wait. But chances it wasn't racially motivated are **low**

I hate this line of thinking. We need police departments to continue to feel accountable for their actions and that includes making statements about ongoing investigations. Yes, this has a 99.99% chance of being racially motivated, but I would rather the PD avoid jumping to conclusions in every situation, whether it's obvious or not. If they don't, we could get situations like how Fox immediately called the car crash in Buffalo a terrorist attack because it seemed "obvious" to someone/some people.

Cowards? Would you prefer situations like last week in Niagara? Where a car crash happened at the border and the Canadian conservative candidate for PM immediately called it a terrorist attack even though it wasn’t?
You need restraint from n throwing words around. They matter, you better be sure of what you’re saying, especially in politics and journalism.

How does this dumb shit get so many upvotes? Who does it hurt to wait for a tiny bit of investigating prior to announcing a motive, just because you think it's probably obvious? Who does it aid to jump to immediate conclusions?
Yeah, it probably was some kind of hate crime, but to call the authorities "fucking cowards" for exercising the minimal amount of responsibility prior to making that determination is peak Reddit.

It's still frustrating that like 90% of right wingers pretend like bigotry against Muslims or people who are perceived to be Muslim doesn't exist even there have countless examples in the past several weeks. They freaked out when Biden announced an National Strategy to Counter Islamophobia. They cynically said Biden was ignoring/downplaying anti-Semitism (which of course is a massive problem to be clear) even though Biden announced a national strategy co counter anti-Semitism a few days before.

Wait so what makes you think it’s racially motivated? And not that they were involved in something or were at the wrong place in wrong time etc..

They're still deciding if Hamas was hiding inside the students.

Burlington has been doing their best to stick their fingers in their collective ears and "LALALA" everything away, from pretending The Pit doesn't exist, to making the high school in the defunct mall a feel-good story, to ignoring the rampant public drug use, homelessness, and violence. They depend on tourism and this public perception of Vermont being a place where you can hold hands and skip to the farmer's market in your Smartwool socks and have a big gay vegan picnic at Waterfront park.

Me too, seeing as the only thing I've done was read an article about it and have no further information, just like you. I thought Reddit learned with the whole Boston Bomber thing that it's best to wait to draw conclusions about things that we all have fuck-all knowledge about besides our own biases.
