Although the title leads you believe Hackensack Meridian Health is a potential bad guy here, first and foremost I don't trust Horizon as far as I can throw them!

This recently happened with BCBS and Memorial Sloan Kettering. Then they made a deal at the very last minute.

these are brinksmanship style negotiating tactics. The reality is Horizon and United Healthcare are never the good guys.

Isn't this their own employer health coverage?

This is all about $$....and both parties trying to get as much of it as possible while also trying to keep as much of it as possible. I recently had to downgrade my healthcare plan at work with Horizon because the cost for the same plan was going to effectively DOUBLE per month. Now my out of pocket will rise substantially in order to keep my cost about the same ( it's a little bit higher than it was before for the better plan).

Does this impact BCBS via other out of state providers? Is Horizon responsible for negotiations with Hackensack and the outcome impacts all BCBS even if not through Horizon?

Does anyone know if Horizon NJ Health (Medicaid) is included? I haven't received an email about it yet.

Considering that I have chronic illnesses that occasionally require emergency services, it's concerning that I might have to be driven 30 minutes to the closest in-network hospital instead of 10 minutes in an emergency. I don't have time to look up who's in-network when my body is actively trying to kill itself.

So, really, if you’re dying, try to avoid dying in Central and South Eastern Jersey. You’ll probably be covered by law, but good luck having them code that correctly regardless.

Hospitals and insurance companies are both the culprits of American healthcare. And doctors are accomplices. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They did this last year with Aetna. They gave letters from every Dr. that treated me. They settled about a week before it wound’ve happened. They need each other. Every one wants more $. It’s the crying the blues stage now.

This drives me nuts because the only options in my area are HMH!! Otherwise I have to drive an hour in either direction to robert wood or Atlantic care.

All my Dr's are HMH, I have a chronic health condition I get treatment for every 4 weeks.

They will work this out before then since so micn of their revenue comes from HMH.

Horizon is 100% the bad guy here. The hospital system is drowning. Horizon is one of the slowest to pay ins companies

Wanted to pop on to say our governor position is up along with a few assembly seats. Stephen Zielinski is running with the green party, and there are a few Green Party members running for assembly seats. They want to do Medicare for all in NJ. Eliminating prior authorizations, out of network doctors, etc. I know some of the people running have been given the okay to share what I have been told, and there's been big talks on how to implement it all.

They're also working on how to bring SNAP to farm stands in NJ and rework the SNAP system to make it better and easier to apply as well as better accessible.

No more waiting 4 months for reevaluations, no more confusing information when they send you the packet and hide the extra stuff they're requesting from you in the bold underlined sentence stating to send all the information from the check boxes, etc. Going to do so much better.

So for sure keep an eye out for the Green Party candidates on your ballots in November.
