Accounts can not be made with the suffix -ModTeam, so no worries there! Currently we have no plans to open the API on this feature, but never say never.

I mean that's been the case for the last 10 new Reddit features. Is the API dying for good?

Gotta love how 60% or more of mod actions are done from old Reddit, but you all refuse to acknowledge that in terms of feature development.

Guess we'll have to stick with Toolbox sending modmail instead.

Currently we have no plans to open the API on this feature, but never say never.

Read: Currently we are using any and all possible moderation tools as a way to force moderators onto new reddit.

You're free to do as you wish, but I just wish to let you know in advance that the day I can no longer satisfactorily perform my moderation tasks from old reddit is also the day I step down as a moderator and quit using reddit. I doubt I'm the only one, either.

Another day, another ocasion of Reddits product team denying the realities of moderating this site. Oh well.

This is incredibly disappointing. This feature was created in part to protect moderators from harassment and you have no plans to protect those that do a majority of the moderation on reddit.

I really hope you reconsider so you can follow through on your promises to protect moderators.

That's too bad. I'm the top active mod on two of the most prolific gaming communities on the site and I won't be able to use this feature, as it will be locked to an inferior version of the site for moderation workflows.

Why do you do this when you folx have admitted to knowing that most moderators use old Reddit?

Really disappointing. I hope at the very least down the line when you're able to comment as your mod team[1] there will be an API call or a way to integrate it into extensions/bots.

Disappointing. I mod 99.9% of the time from r/apolloapp and this means I wont be able to use this.

That’s unfortunate. I’d like to see that added soon

Content removed in protest of Reddit treatment of users, moderators, the visually impaired community and 3rd party app developers.

If you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks: Reddit abruptly announced[1] they would be charging astronomically overpriced API fees to 3rd party apps, cutting off mod tools. Worse, blind redditors & blind mods (including mods of r/Blind and similar communities) will no longer have access[2] to resources that are desperately needed in the disabled community.

Removal of 3rd party apps

Moderators all across Reddit rely on third party apps to keep subreddit safe from spam, scammers and to keep the subs on topic. Despite Reddit’s very public claim that "moderation tools will not be impacted", this could not be further from the truth despite 5+ years of promises from Reddit. Toolbox in particular is a browser extension that adds a huge amount of moderation features that quite simply do not exist on any version of Reddit - mobile, desktop (new) or desktop (old). Without Toolbox, the ability to moderate efficiently is gone. Toolbox is effectively dead[3].

All of the current 3rd party apps are either closing or will not be updated. With less moderation you will see more spam (OnlyFans, crypto, etc.) and more low quality content. Your casual experience will be hindered.

You folks continue to half-ass the support the mod teams get, but hey, its done for free right? What do you care?
