This FAQ is about Community Appearance options in a subreddit, based on previous answers by our helpers.

New/redesign reddit

Community Appearance options in New Reddit/Redesign are found in `Mod Tools -> Community Appearance` or at `https://www.reddit.com/r/SUBREDDIT/?styling=true`. Over there you can set up **(1)** Color themes including Background and Background Images, **(2)** Display Name[4] of Subreddit & the Icon/Avatar, **(3)** Banner, **(4)** Menu Links at the top, and **(5)** Sidebar Widgets for Rules, Flairs, 'Related Communities' and social media buttons. On New/Redesign, **CSS** is currently disabled.

• If you want to set an animated gif[11] as an icon or banner, follow these steps: **(1)** First create or find a gif file. Use Google to find out how. **(2)** convert the gif file to an apng (animated png) file with a `.png` extension. One often-recommended site is EZgif.com. Please Google for other online resources, **(3)** Upload the `.png` file to Reddit as an icon or banner, if it matches the file size. To be safe, keep the files smaller than 512 KB.
