View submission: Canada's Trudeau announces counter tariffs
The US government *should* be protecting the country from illegal fentanyl production in Canada and Mexico. It is tragic and entirely preventable that the leading cause of death of Americans 18-45 is fentanyl overdose. The previous administration should have never let the epidemic grow this far out of control.

There was 40lbs of fentanyl seized last year that came through the Canadian border. Thats worth about $4 million. This tariff will cost billions…

The person who put that number out was a "DEI hire," FYI.
Seems like this is another problem where we should fire people in the DEA and back fill it with loyalists. Just like the FAA, we have too many people causing problems, and if we fire them, things will improve.

Demand for illegal fentanyl would evaporate overnight if we ended the drug war and let people buy opiates from legitimate manufacturers instead of criminal cartels.
