View submission: Canada's Trudeau announces counter tariffs
President Trump and the White House social media have been very clear[1] that the point of these tariffs is push Canada and Mexico into doing more to stop the fentanyl coming into the US. Anyone claiming this is happening for "no particular reason" is willfully not paying attention.

That reasoning doesn't really make sense when less than 1% of fentanyl in the US comes from Canada. Most of it comes from Mexico, China and India, so why are we slapping 25% tariffs on Canada when China gets 10% and India gets none?

Fentanyl's not really a problem coming in from Canada though. Just seems very strange to not have a discussion rather than just trying to hammer an allied nation - dialogue is weakness or something?

Right right. All the fentanyl that's coming from Canada. So what exactly is the US looking for from Canada? Especially since Canada has been trying to figure that out only to get stonewalled by the trump admin.

Please do link us to specific demands by the White House to articulate how and by how much they're supposed to reduce fentanyl coming across? Because surely when implementing a destructive, punishing negotiating tactic you'd also lay out clear demands and expectations?
