View submission: Canada's Trudeau announces counter tariffs
Technically China isn't an enemy - at most they are a geopolitical rival right now. I only said that they should make overtures/open the conversation to point out that Canada nor Mexico are required to be beholden to the whims of the United States if we are going to be a terrible ally to them.

What is technically something means nothing to most people. To at least half of America, China is an enemy. There is a reason why the US honestly might use military force to bring the Panama canal back into US control. Its because of the Chinese presence at the canal. You put Chinese military bases in Canada & Mexico and yes, you can convince half of America that annexing Canada & Mexico is a national security must. It would be insane for Canada & Mexico to even mention allowing Chinese military presence in their countries. A conversation with the EU for troops stationed? Sure. But China is asking for a war with the US.
