February 5th is the 101st anniversary of Minnesota’s deadliest mining disaster, where 41 Cuyuna miners died in the 200-foot-deep Milford Mine’s collapse. Milford Mine Memorial Park offers reflection through interpretive signs, scenic walkways, and a boardwalk leading to the historic mine shaft site. Photo credit: Crow Wing County

Oh, I've written a song about that. I'll be sure to record it in time to post it on the 5th.

My grandma Evie told me about how her uncle Art liked to sleep in, even when he had to work. It was her job to wake him up and make sure he went to work. She always regretted that when he died in the mine at Milford. He was just about to get married.

My folks live close to here. It’s a somber experience to experience the memorial.
