We have had to remove a larger number of posts the last few days than usual for violating Rule 1.

This does not mean that because someone was born here nearly 60 years ago and is now a national figure, this is the place to discuss their status as a national figure.

It does not mean that because Minnesota is a state in the U.S., national politics/federal law gets a pass. We lightened up on that during the election while Governor Walz was VP candidate, but have been enforcing it again for almost 3 months now.

We get it, trust us. What’s going on nationally is unprecedented and, for many, it’s scary. Being in the know is important. But there are subs for that and if you want to be in the know, you should join those subs.

Posts about federal/national issues will continue to be removed unless they involve a figure who has a current and relevant connection to MN (like Ken Martin or one of the MN senators/reps), they involve an issue that has a unique or disparate impact on MN compared to the other states as a whole (like the BWCA), or they’re about local events that are related to national issues (like protests physically occurring in MN).

And, yes, we’ve seen the uptick in trolling, too. Please review the rules and make sure you’re following them before posting or commenting. Please continue to report posts and comments that clearly violate the rules.

I know a lot of news (papers, tv) try to find a Minnesota angle on everything so I guess this makes sense.

Thanksssss. If I wanted to read about national things I would look at a national source! I am not ignoring issues, I AM however choosing to consume in moderation and not give into fear mongering

I'd urge you mods to change this. The only soft way to land this coup without a hot civil war is organizing mass protest across the nation. Reddit is one of the only platforms not under control of republicans and will likely play a role in organizing.
