How many dishes do you keep? Cups, plates, and bowls.

I have 4 plates, 4 dessert plates, 4 cups, 4 spoons, 4 forks, 4 knives, 1 4-seater table and 1 4-seater sofa.
I will *NEVER* receive more people than my table can accommodate, so I don't need more than that.

I think I have 4 of each silverware because it came in a set, I probably could pack some away. I have two big bowls which are my absolute favourite size for everything. 2 plates but thinking I'll get rid of one. I have a medium bowl, a small bowl and I have a few tiny sauce bowls which I use a lot. I have a big soup mug, a very cool ceramic coffee cup, a small enamel mug for travel, a cup that can be used for measuring liquid or smoothies, a couple of vacuum-sealed cups in two sizes because I use them a lot and a very big beer glass. Oh and a very large stainless steel camping mug with my nickname on it.
I plan on going through it soon to get rid of a couple of things but I enjoy having a variety over a lot of the same thing.

The maximum number of people I plan to ever have in my house at one time is 8 people. I don't know why but some of my extended family is staunchly anti-zero waste. They only drink from bottles or cans and they only use paper napkins, but I can get them to use normal plates and silverware.
I have 8 dinner plates, 8 salad plates, 6 bowls, 4 beverage glasses, an unreasonable number of mugs (10) and 4 champagne glasses.
I store it all in one place in the cabinet next to the dishwasher to make it easier to put everything away. I've tried to store extras in other places and I always forget I have it when I need it. I went through a phase where we were breaking mugs constantly so I bought extra.
I also have some cute panda chopstick rests that I love, and two big black bowls that only I use.

I have quite a bit because I have people over for food often.
I own eight dinner plates, five salad/dessert plates, 6 cereal bowls, four flat soup plates and four bread plates. I often have three other people over for dinner, and this configuration gives me plenty of options for serving them.

When it come to utensils, I love having them around. It is been quite sometime since I last had many visitors but I know hoe handy they are when hosting a huge group.

Were a fmaily of 2 and we have 6 of everything. Ensures we have enough of everything for 3 meals a day at home, and we run the dishwasher every night.

I have a basic set then excess cups because my sister will keep taking them to her guest room and not bring them back, then acting like I’m a bad host without dishes. It one of the few things I’ve capitulated on since it’s not worth the hassle of perpetually dealing with

loads! I have stacks of corelle and good dishes. 12 place settings and all the service pieces for Christmas, 15 wedgewood dinner plates, roughly 24 salad plates, 16 soup/pasta bowls, about 30 corelle plates, loads of others and serving pices. We have two sets of every day silverware and two sets of good silverwear one 12 and one 18 place settings. As well as our four wedding place setting dishes. I've gotten rid of hundreds of dishes. These are the ones I actually use.
