View submission: Moving Countries, So Many Books!

I get it. i have a thing with books too, but after moving around and living in the city with a small apartment and limited wall space, books are the worst thing to buy and pack. i ended up donating many of my collection after a couple of moves. the way i parted with them was thinking, i enjoyed these and now someone will get to as well.

if you love reading, libraries and book swaps are great!

Wow I love this comment! Just reading "I get it" made me feel so much better lol. Really - thank you! I'm really good at culling things but my books aghhhh... And yet, exactly as you write, such a pain to schlep around and store!! Most of the big ones I am yet to read and definitely will in future. Even so, I haven't done the full math yet but it might be something like $2.5K to ship them now, or $5K gradually to replace them as needed over the years. Obviously on a straight mathematical basis the first option is cheaper but I just don't love the idea of spending $2.5K on moving books right now and won't need them any time soon. So learning toward the latter despite the overall financial loss. We'll see... Thanks so much for your input and understanding! :)
