Unless you’re heading to Portsea or Queenscliff to beat today’s heat, best to keep any openings in your body out of the bay.

I made promises to my dog yesterday regarding a trip for a swim at Warrandyte today. I've been getting sulky looks of betrayal all morning because after the rain last night, I broke that promise.

Also FYI this map is from a model. No one is out there measuring actual water quality.

The most frustrating thing about this is that it actually doesn’t have to be this way, but we seem to have accepted that our rivers are dirty and full of shit and pollution after a rain event, drives me nuts.

To think I was going to go to Warrandyte for a dip.

Thanks for posting.

Question: why is it the water quality poor? Is it because of e-coli? Or what is the contamination source?

The reverse is true as well. After a long spell of no rain, the bay is pristine. I was at Williamstown beach on Sunday morning and the water was amazing.

Apparently there's only 1 river in this town.

Elwood was sensational a few hours ago, apart from a few leaves. Maybe later today and tomorrow once the stormwater washes through it may be a bit dirty.

Was spewing. Going to the swimming pool for refresher after going to the beach so many times feels so different.

Went for a swim this morning at Elwood. Water was great. Mind you we had fuck all rain last night. Wouldn't be swimming in Geelong.

It’s a miracle that anyone survived in the water before this map existed!

What’s the reason for no swimming. Water quality or heat?
