What if a non-Muslim Malaysian female had children with a foreign Muslim? Do the children need to be registered as Muslim?

whatever u/Capable_Bank4151 said. Plus, if you disclose your husband is a Muslim and you're not, your marriage wouldn't be recognised. If you decide to return, you're considered single by law.

First, you (foreign father) do not need to disclose or can lie about his religion to the government, unless he came from a very obvious Muslim-majority country like Afghannistan or Saudi Arabia.

Second, if by whatever reason, the marriage of the child's parents is invalid or not recognised, then section 17, Second Schedule of the Federal Constitution says that the word "parents" shall mean the mother only and the child's father is deemed non-existent. Hence, the Malaysian mother can still apply for citizenship under Article 15(2) of the Constitution.

if the country in question is indonesia JPN may ask them to prove proof they are not muslims because the indonesian government do provide such certificate.
