Hello nawabs and begums of /r/Lucknow,

Congrats, you are now part of a 1000+ users strong community!

It took 7 long years for the first 500 to come on board. But the next 500 came in less than a year with majority coming in just these last 7 months or so.

Although it's still pretty much a sleepy little subreddit but the recent uptick in user activity is a huge step up from the days of seeing no action (except from spammers and yours truly, of course) for weeks or months at a stretch.

Helped along the way by determined souls who tried their best to jolt this sub out of its deep slumber through meetups - progressing from 2015[1]'s attempt to 2018[2]'s date followed by 2019[3]'s sixer.

And now with all this rapid growth, /r/Lucknow aims to become a better place for Lucknowites and keenly looks forward to exciting times ahead.

But that's not going to happen without your help and active participation. So, while broad guidelines are listed in the sidebar, you are requested to please take special note of the following:

1. If a post is a) spam, or b) not directly related or relevant to Lucknow(ites), then please report it as such. Armed with enough reports, our bot overlord may take down such posts without waiting for a lazy human to review them.

2. If a post is relevant to this sub but is self-promotional in nature (i.e. user's own website, blog, video, etc.) then keep an eye on that thread. In case it turns out to be a hit and run where the user isn't very keen to respond, reply or engage with our community members then please DO report it as spam.

3. If you notice incivility in a thread then please report comments which are rude, harassing or otherwise violating our nawabi tehzeeb. This will help flag rogue users who may be warned or banned accordingly.

4. Whenever in doubt that your post might run into conflict with 1(b) above, the safest option is to just post in the stickied random discussion thread instead where nothing is usually removed as long as it's benign and non-spammy.

5. The random discussion thread is currently posted on a monthly basis and stays live for the whole month stickied at the top. Its frequency and default sorting order can be changed as per community consensus, so feel free to share your preference.

6. If you are someone who enjoys keeping a tab on the city pulse then please consider sharing your local insights (on popular community topics like food, places, ISPs, etc.) by contributing to our long pending wiki[4]. Interested volunteers can send a modmail or just drop a comment here asking for wiki editing rights.

I'm really happy about the fact that our beloved little City has a growing community on Reddit.
