Another video highlighting the discriminatory (and evidently hypocritical) bills targeting LGBTQ+ kids that Kansas lawmakers are debating.

Here’s what loud light says about this bill:

About HB2311: Freedom to Discriminate in Adoption & Foster Care

Prohibits Policies that protect LGBTQIA+ kids from discrimination during foster care and adoption: The bill mandates that state agencies must consider foster and adoptive parents even if their beliefs could be harmful to an LGBTQ+ child, such if the prospective parent intends on engaging in practices such as conversion therapy. Includes Lawsuit Clause: Any person who is denied selection or placement of a child and feels as though it is because of their belief system is entitled to sue the agency and its employees over this perceived “discrimination”.

I got this from loudlightaction.org/trans-rights where they have a form to contact your lawmakers about this bill

I honestly can’t believe anyone wants to put the views of foster parents over the needs of kids. Wow.

Codifying that adults come first and life should be just a little shittier for kids who’ve already been let down by adults over and over (or they wouldn’t be in foster care.)

If you can’t just be nice, maybe being a foster parent isn’t for you?

At least she slipped up and admitted it was offensive, which can now be quoted in the future.

Conversion "therapy" is just another form of torture and indoctrination by forcing your beliefs onto another by any means necessary.

The attack and erasure of lgbt+ and especially transgender **PEOPLE** is no different than censoring someone's freedom of speech because you disagree with their statement. These bills are un-American at their core, and proponents of them should be ashamed of their actions of support.

Tim Johnson was a teacher of mine in high school. He was my quizbowl coach and I worked as a teachers aid for him my senior year.

When he ran for state house I was kinda happy. We radically disagree on politics but this district is red and I was hopeful that, since I had a personal connection to him, I could maybe get him to lighten up on some of his harder stances.

He no longer responds to my emails. Fuck the right wing

If a family’s beliefs are inherently problematic to an LGBTQ+ child, then they are simply not qualified to foster that kid.

In what rational and sane scenario would you put an at-risk LGBTQ+ child into foster care with a family that would cause more harm to that child? If that kid is coming from an abusive or neglectful situation that was deemed egregious enough to remove the child, then there is no fucking way the state would be upholding its duty of care to the child by putting them into another abusive situation.

Sure, you can *consider* that family, for about two seconds, and then move on to the next.

She is not being offensive. That is her moral beliefs. Why would it be offensive to misgender someone intentionally. It's almost like they are about to a an intelligent thought and then stop.

It’s already so fucking hard to be a queer kid in Kansas. I know because I was one. The cruelty I faced back then still affects me, even though I’m well into adulthood.

People used to tell me that homosexuality was a sin that cried out to heaven. I say the real sin that cries out to God and to humanity is making a child suffer so you can bask in your own sense of righteousness.

Then why is the legislature coming out of the gate being offensive? It is it only OK when they do it.

So think about is for just a second. What's to stop some certified pedo who was denied placement of a child from suing because their "belief system" involves assaulting children?
