I'm trying to learn how to juggle windmill but I just can't get passed the first step. I can juggle half-shower well but I can't get my right hand to throw the ball straight up or my left to come over. Any tips on how to get past this?

You shouldn’t be throwing any ball straight up. They should all arch around. The ball movement should look almost identical to a full shower, it’s just your hands that don’t.
Highly recommend the Taylor Tries video on youtube. She breaks it down.

If you haven't already, learn to do a single under the arm throw in a cascade.
Then do a single under the arm throw during your half shower. If your right hand is throwing over the top use your left hand to do the under arm throw and vice versa.
If you do that continuously you'll be doing windmill, then you can clean it up and make it look nice.

Learning to juggle cascade/reverse cascade with crossed forearms can help a lot with any "cross armed / under arm toss" shenanigans

The idea to get into it from a half-shower got my body to realise what the movements should be

the thing that helped me was thinking of "pulling" the ball towards your body for the underarm throws

So you can throw “over the top”, right?
And you can throw “under the hand”, right?
So just alternate!
Grab three balls. Juggle a Cascade.
Now do “over the top” every right throw
Next do “Under the Hand” every left throw..
And that’s it.
Except you need to learn it both ways round.
So, have fun with that?
Hope that helps!?
