I’m a west-sider, but my best friend just sent me this picture. It sounds like all the buildings in the strip have just gone up in flames, she said she’d never heard so many sirens in her life.

Well, that sounds quite convenient for whoever is working to redevelop the plaza.

As an Irvington resident, the fire may actually improve the look of the property

Just drove by. They have all the flames out and it’s just smoking like crazy now

My buddy went in there to take photos and explore a bit a few months back and said it was basically a homeless camp. Not exactly shocked as I’ve ridden my bike on the trail behind it for years. I actually used to shop at this Marsh as a child. Wild stuff.

I got my hair cut this afternoon at Elmer's place in this strip across from the fire. The photographer must have been right around there. Crazy. I hope no one was injured.

I wouldn't have realized where this was without the inclusion of that weirdly placed Dairy Queen. I have no idea how that place existed for so long after everything near it closed up... though it had closed down in just the last few months, I think.

As long as it stays on that end of the lot and leaves Los Cuates alone.

That used to be my "go-to" Dairy Queen until the closed that MoFo! I used to hit Little Ceasars back in the day, too!

I wish they would have let it burn down. It is probably going to look like the Golden Corral on Washington.

It looks like they brought in an excavator into the parking lot. Hopefully they will take the building down. Sooner than later. One can hope!

When I was a kid, my grandmother would take me there and give me some quarters to play whatever arcade game was set up at the front of the store at the time while she grabbed groceries.
I remember playing a lot of Street Fighter Alpha, Revolution X, and Mortal Kombat at that Marsh during that time. Fond memories for me.

Giving the extent of homelessness in the current time, one must wonder if it was just a vagrant that went in just to warm up. That’s what happened to the Steak n Shake on west 38th street. It was demolished a year and a half after the fire. Cost a lot of money to bring a structure down

If the eggs from when that marsh was open were around today they'd be so ashamed 😔

this probably happened because Trump fired a DEI hire.
