No. What the author of the article talks about is what fans of Japanese, Korean and Chinese webtoons have known for years: machine translations are terrible. AIs mangle sentences in a way that’s far worse than a bad human translator because at least the human understands the gist of the storyline. An AI translation puts misleading sentences in characters‘ mouths, text into the wrong speech bubbles and mixes up character names, so the entire meaning of a chapter can be warped.

The same goes for long text translations put through Google, Apple, and other app translators: they‘re awful. Great for single words, straightforward sentences and some very common sayings but that’s it (source: me, trying to translate legal documents for my German mum).
