In settings there should be an option underneath preferences saying "UI layout" or just "Layout" providing three options
Old *when hovering over this option would show an image example of what it looks like, this will save users time so they don't have to click it to see what it looks like*
New(Or any word you find suitible for the UI that we had when replacing www. with new./the one before this current one) *same thing happens when hovering over this option*
Newest(or if renaming the "new" option you can rename this one as new) *Same hovering function*
also for the previous UI to have the option that is in this current UI which is to search in someone's profile for something specific like for example if you went to someone profile and clicked search and searched "Cody the dog" for example only things where the words "Cody the dog" was mentioned will appear but only from the user's profile, I find this option useful for finding something specific.
overall I think adding this new option of choosing UI version preferences will make many users very happy!
This option would be nice to be available on both Mobile and the desktop site and I think it would bring users who have quit due to the enforcement of the newest UI back due to them being able to go back to their preferred layout.
Please forgive me if there's any poor English or explaining!
Also please forgive me again if this is the incorrect flair I'm not sure which flair is suitable since this is a suggestion including both new, newest and old reddit and also mobile and desktop site suggestion, I put the user setting flair on since the main idea is for the suggestion to be a setting in user settings ^^

Perfect idea.
I don’t understand why, if "old" could stay, "new" couldn’t
All I see is white, and it's physically painful to look at, "new" Reddit was almost perfect.
I hope they bring back the new version.

Alright, if Reddit really wants to push this enshittification[1] to users without giving them a choice, I will leave. Downloaded my data copy already to keep the nice memories.

I'm pretty sure they are nuking new.reddit all together. They have no issue with old.reddit, but nobody will ever be allowed to access new.reddit anymore

sure hope there will be another extension that can come out to modify some code to get it back to the old 'new'. which I love the best. This new layout blows HARD!!!

Yes please. I was so disappointed to find out that the access to old-new reddit for mods was removed. I just can't work with the mobile UI forced upon us right now.

Please reddit, if you're gonna sell my comments for Ai then atleast let me use a better designed site. This suggestion is really good because if you still like the new new reddit, then you can just keep using it, and if you dont you can use new reddit. Atleast bring back the colors and background if you're gonna force me to use this, it just hurts my eyes

I am a desktop user, I don't want a mobile designed UI. and I don't want a 90s/early 2000s discussion forum UI(old reddit)
new reddit was perfect for me... every time I open reddit now I just want to close it, not browse.

Unfortunately, maintaining several different versions is probably not something a company wants to to ideally, and it is probably the reason why Reddit is trying to shove this crap down its uers' throats right now -___-
It's absolutel terrible, I F* hate it also ...

Just wanted to come in here and say that I don't see why we can't keep new.reddit if old.reddit is still around. I plan on quitting reddit for the unforeseeable future unless they bring new.reddit back.

I also agree with this suggestion, more options allow for better user experience.

Heck yeah, I’ll accept any ideas like this as long as it involves bringing new.reddit.com back.

I don't understand why they'd straight up not even let you use an extension to get the ui you want. This current ui is so garbage man,

I'm so lost in this new layout. Everything looks clickable and important, so nothing looks important

agree but they wont do it cause then it would be admitting that those working in this new UI suck and have no clue what people want.......

It's nonsense AF how oldreddit can stay, but newreddit can't, newreddit is literally peak experience, this new UI sucks, I don't even look reddit as much I do look before, and I saw a lot of people dropped reddit alltogether, they aint wrong, nothing is enjoyable about this sh*tty UI.

Reddit's trying to appeal to people who are addicted to tiktok/Gen-alpha so they can rake in more money, thank you for not caring about the people that feed you and are the reason you don't have to work an awful 9-5 jop spez. Seriously, if you want to earn money by feeding our comments to an AI, you do that. The least you can do is give us the option to keep a UI we love.

Yes yes yes! This is how it should be! I really hope the admins see this. The new.reddit.com[1] layout was perfectly fine. This new new one doesn't even get rid of old notifications that I've seen.
It would be the best thing in the world if they would add it as a choice for which format you want.

"new" is by far the best layout there has ever been on Reddit in my opinion. I just do not understand why they are so insistent on replacing it. The creating a subreddit workaround (essentially making yourself a moderator, which seemed to flag something that allowed new to still work for a while) was fine until a couple days ago, but it now just gets a redirect error.
I would much rather (and will) use the very outdated looking old than the awful newest one.

I'd be happy simply with a decent view instead of the horrid Card and Compact view choices. Seems like they could create a compact desktop view that doesn't make you disoriented when looking at it.
A truly 'compact' view should be two lines not four.
