Hello all! Wife and I’s 20 yr anniversary is coming up and I want to take her to a “fancy restaurant” for lack of a better term. Any suggestions? I’ve been to what is a fancy restaurant in my eyes in St Louis. They only have 2-3 seatings a night and you wait for everyone to arrive in the front cocktail lounge, order a drink whatever before being seated. Food was phenomenal. Any places remotely like this in the Houston area? Tia!

March more or less fits the bill, and just got a Michelin star!

I would suggest Brennan's because its fancy and gracious and charming and feels romantic.

Also, that's where I got married so in my mind its synonymous with wedding anniversary.

Pescatarian so I’m limited with my suggestions, but Oheya is a great Omakase by Uchi. 2 seatings/ night, ran about $600 including tip (with a bottle of wine in there). One of the best meals I’ve ever had, highly recommend.

Pattons steakhouse - it's inside Savoir, it's like a speak easy entrance. It's really good and they have like private ish booths you can ask for one of those instead of a table.

I don't think you'll get a good answer without more details. There are tons of fancy restaurants in Houston that have bars and don't push you out the door. If you aren't really into fine dining, a steakhouse might be best. Or try Hillstone--they're a chain, but they're also very specifically designed for people who want a fancy, straightforward date night.

Potente is incredible and would fit the definition of a "fancy restaurant".

Pappas Bros steakhouse[1] has always been great for me. Get the bone-in beef fillet. They do not have a strict dress code but I always wear a suit and do not feel out of place.

Nancy’s Hustle is a more modern version of a date night, but the food, vibe, and service are outstanding. Their ribeye is one of the best steaks I’ve ever had, and it’s not a steakhouse so the menu is much more interesting.

What cuisine are you searching for?

The Pappas steakhouse is the perfect recommendation if you’re craving beef, plus their Sommelier is fantastic and will pair you with something incredible.

We used to have Degust, which is exactly what you’re describing, but I believe they went under.
