Why doesn't Russia just leave? Why are they attacking Ukraine? Would you rather they just lay there and let their country be taken?

Would you die for your homeland if it was invaded by foreigners?

Its their choice to fight for their country. You can't deny them that right. And it serves American interests to boot.

if Mexico invaded Texas claiming it as some historic part of the Mexican empire which speaks Spanish and is aligned in culture, sing me up to fight to the death for Texas. There’s nothing I wouldn’t give for my State/Republic, and no amount of territory I would be willing to concede. Fuck the US or any other hegemonic power. Chalk me up as a statistic if you will, but I’ll die knowing I’m defending a place and a people and a way of life I believe in

They are choosing to fight for something they believe in. Whether you agree with them or not is irrelevant.
