View submission: New Changelog | December 18, 2024

For the home feed. It is 7 days from what I have seen even since that date. From the way they described it, it is meant to be punitive to those who don’t want recommendations, and it routinely shows things already seen.

Agreed. Roughly half the feed on my main is older content that I don't care about. My alt is even worse because I follow less subs on that, over half my feed on my alt is old stuff that I don't want to see or care about. The older a post is, the more dead it is. I comment to engage with other users, people aren't likely to engage on older posts.

Making Home Feed Recommendations and Old Post Promotion two options on the same toggle makes the intention so clear.

The Old Post Promotion is also a bad idea at its core, because it's assuming that I didn't engage with these posts because I didn't see them. I chose to scroll past them, and now Reddit is promoting rejected posts back at the top of my feed. It's a hit against user autonomy and dilutes the experience.
