Constantly sick to my stomach and alarmingly isolated. I've spent the last few years here thinking about how I need to find some sort of community, but I'm an introvert with terribly deteriorated social skills now that I don't work a public facing job, and I don't church or drink so I just have no idea where to start and by all accounts here the prospects sound dim.

I don't feel like my time would be put to best use marching around and I have precious little hope in change via government mechanisms to begin with, but I would very much like to get involved in supporting my increasingly vulnerable neighbors in marginalized communities. I'd be happy to start by just ... finding where to find people who don't feel actively hostile to anyone outside the straight cis wasp monolith. I know we're out here!

I'm still trying to determine why my Rural Development grant was found to be Marxist or DEI and suspended.

Feeling concerned. Motivated to hold signs. Wondering why they don't just put the detainees in the old japanese internment camp (eyeroll).

Concerned about where sheehy, daines, and zinke are gonna take montana. I have 2 queer kids and want to protect them from the open hate.

The general feedback I've had from peers and coworkers is we are all just appalled. Concerned what this means for the kids we care for (I work with a lot of foster kids who depend on MT Medicaid).

The first day Trump was inaugurated, I knew things would start going downhill from there. But man, what a freaking month it’s been. From the history making wildfires in California, to Trump becoming President, executive order after order as quickly as possible to start getting things going and to start overwhelming people.

Hearing about Federal Grants & Spending being suspended was heartbreaking to me. I applied for Medicaid. I doubt I’ll get it because I think I make too much yearly income, but hearing all 50 states couldn’t access their Medicaid portals broke my heart. I’m so glad that got rescinded… for now.

Then hearing about that horrible plane crash in DC, and our fucking mascot for the country is all like, “Umm, I think it’s because of Obama and making jobs focus more on diversity… durr durr.” Surely not because no one can keep a fucking job, people getting fired left and right. New people coming in all the time. But screw the freaking women, minorities, and trans people. It’s THEIR damn fault. 🙄

I don’t even want to get started on the deportation movement, placing undocumented citizens and other criminals in a foreign country to be locked up. Yeah. That’ll show them!!

Sorry this was so long. I normally don’t sink my teeth into politics, but hoo boy I’m pretty fucking worried what’s going to happen in just *this year* alone.

Feeling extremely concerned about how quickly he is moving forward with all the hateful executive orders, not to mention the memo (which is only paused until Monday). I worry for all LQBTQ and POC, as well as for my kids, who are adults, but still my kids. Don't get me started on the environment...

Yeah, but tons of people drive many miles on miserable highways in the worst of Montana winters to testify before the legislative budget committees.

People care. I have listened to them. Legislators listen to them.

Hard to believe this is actually going on. So many people just seem fine with it, too.

Press that cover the legislative session need to find out how the state legislature intends to deal with likely reductions in federal spending.

It is the primary purpose of the state legislature to pass a state budget. House Bill 1 funds the legislative session, HB 2 funds the state government. That has been the sequence since the very beginning.

How will we pay for our highways? How will we pay for nursing homes? How will we pay for environmental cleanup? How will our universities survive without federal research grants? Twenty percent of our public instruction money is federal? The list goes on and on.

I'm trans. Take a guess, but we have to remain strong. A ship must meet a storm steadfast. Christ is on the horizon.
