Hi friends, I could really use some help looking for lightweight hiking boots for fieldwork purposes. Something comfortable and durable for Guam’s trails (i.e. sharp rocks) and light weight due to carrying equipment around. I have no problem spending $ as long as it’s a good investment. Looking to order online, but not sure which place is good and can arrive here in less than 2 months. Please comment your recommendations below. Much appreciated!

Get some cheap, used hiking boots. That or an old pair of running shoes. You are going to be in and out of water frequently, and tons of mud. I hose my boots off after every hike but it’s still a lot of wear and tear. The terrain is slippery no matter what you are wearing on your feet. It’ll be easier peace of mind not having something new and expensive on you to worry about destroying

Salomons, Innov-8s, Hoka, and Merrill trail shoes are your best bet. Maybe one or two newer manufacturers that other commenters can fill in. Southern Mountain Gear sells some of those on island, in Hagatna, or you can hunt for sales online if the manufacturer is putting out a new year’s model - most of them have set MSRP’s otherwise.
