View submission: US Bill of Rights

Its funny how much importance is placed on pieces of paper, they won't protect you from anything. I'm not from America but isn't having your rights violated by the cops/government very common there?

As the great Milton Friedman once said, "the feet of people don't lie." Although no system is perfect, or applies its rules perfectly, you don't see many people going—or trying to go—from places where there are bills of rights and constitutional safeguards to places where those laws don't exist. But you see a lot of people making - or trying to make - the opposite journey.

So the importance of these kinds of pieces of paper is empirically demonstrable.
