It was disheartening to see a well articulated cogent argument showing why determinism has a snowball's chance of being true downvoted by posters who don't have a refutation.

I cannot say it was unexpected as academia puts lipstick on a pig. Materialism has been rebranded physicalism because of E=mc^(2). Who in their rational mind is going try to argue matter is fundamental with an equation such as this one staring them in the face?

Scientism doesn't tell us about philosophical problems. It just marches ahead as if the average Joe Sixpack is either too inept to see the problem or too sidetracked to care about the problem. The latter doesn't include the posters here. They wouldn't even be here if they didn't care. Therefore if you care then why are you downvoting if you don't have a hidden agenda? I get some of you do have financial incentive to get gullible people to believe they don't have free will. I'm wondering about the rest of you.

When Plato came on the scene there was tension between idealism and materialism. Plato, arguably one of the greatest phllosophers to ever live, threw dualism against the wall and it stuck for thousands of years. Then along came quantum mechanics. Appropriately even though it was a brainchild of many of the giants of the time, the Nobel prize was given to Heisenberg.

The point is that "wave/particle duality" is dualism and it stuck from 1927 to 2022.

Space and time are dependent and inextricably linked. If they are dependent, then they don’t exist independently beyond the mental designation that separates them as space and time individually. Same goes for will, same goes for self, same goes for everything. These are just concepts that create artificial boundaries and independencies that we think are real but they’re just conditioned mental designations. Duality is a conceptual construct that we’re all conditioned to believe because of conceptualization

Perhaps energy and matter are just the same "stuff" in different forms. And E=mc^(2) is just the formula for commuting it between the two forms.

I think the way it works is that particles can come in waves, either in quantity (amplitude) or frequency.

Listening to the matter and the mind and the spirit people bicker is annoying.

Existence is platonic. You all are wrong.

It would have been helpful to say what it was, at that point.
