It certainly has at least a probabilistic cause, since the half life depends on the kind of nucleus. Some people think it also has a sufficient cause, which means it is determined, and some think it only has a probabilistic cause, which means it is undetermined.

A necessary cause is implied necessity. A counterfactual cause is implied necessity by not determined until it is factual necessity. Determinism is a epistemic concern because the future is un**known** from our perspective.
