Welcome to the Weekly Donut Discussion thread of /r/EthTrader.
This thread is a place to learn and discuss everything related to r/EthTrader Donuts. Additional resources can be found on the Donut wiki page[1] and in Donut section of the sidebar.
Donuts are r/EthTrader's implementation of Subreddit Points - a metric intended to reflect **community contribution**. This metric is exploited to enable applications such as governance and local economy. It is an evolving system that the community has an active hand in shaping. A key development is the ongoing, Reddit supported[2] community effort to decentralize Donuts[3].

Clearing up a common misconception: donuts come in two varieties (minted 1:1 during distribution):
1. **locked donuts** are earned only and used where reputation or karma is most appropriate (like voting, identity, and certain curation schemes). The decentralized donuts system uses a separate, *non-transferable* token for these called *karma*.
2. **unlocked donuts** are spendable and used where currency is appropriate (like tipping, banner, badges, games, and other curation schemes). The decentralized donuts system uses a *transferable* token for these called *donuts*.

Recent signalling[1] poll closed, 10 raw votes for support of, 8 against. About 0.4 million locked donuts for Yes vs 2.8 million locked donuts for No.

So I interpret that as content creators or mods that hold large amount of donuts do not seem to support the move. Also, the post was 67% upvoted, but not many upvotes so it didn't gain a lot of visbility.
