Can anyone send some links to peer reviewed scientific literature on these two topics:

1. Long term physiological effects of caffeine consumption

2. Common physiological changes and side effects from caffeine withdrawal

I’m new to this sub, but have been cutting down my caffeine intake for years now. Until getting on this sub, it never occurred to me that my anxiety and depression could be linked to caffeine intake (which have improved markedly since cutting back on caffeine).

That said, I don’t take anything based on internet anecdotes and am hoping to get acquainted with some science here.

Uhh the single best informative read you will find is a review of most research. I can’t find the specific link on my phone but someone asks something along the lines of “how long does caffeine withdrawal last” in the askscience subreddit. There’s a discussion of the main neurotransmitter involved as well; but there’s also a non paywall version of the study review linked up at the top. If you don’t find it I’ll reply with it later when I’m not out on my phone.
