Hi All, I would like to have my late-father’s vintage Seiko wristwatch repaired and restored (crystal, finish, and calibre). Does anyone have recommendations or experience with a local shop? Google recommended several jewelry shops, but would they be the best equipped to handle this kind of thing? Thanks in advance!

Reach out or drop by Betz Jewelers, as I was there in the past few months asking about vintage Seiko repair and they gave me a guy's card (which i no longer have, sorry). I believe he is based in StL but apparently he passes through Columbia regularly from what I remember them saying. It seems like he runs his own operation so this might be promising.

Buchroeders also advertises repairs on their website, but I expect it to be more expensive than Betz's guy. I could be wrong. If cost isn't too much of a worry, I'd still get a quote from them too.

Either way, when you do get it repaired, post it to /r/Seiko!

Betz, 100 percent. Now on their third or fourth generation of local family ownership. Buchroeders is fine but pricier.

Betz for sure. In the last year or so they posted a story/review on Facebook from a customer about repairing a sentimental watch for a customer. It truly tells their story of how good they are and the kind of people they are. I will always be a Betz customer.
