How to spot a potential scammer :
- 30+ aged female speaks broken English. Mostly chinese male scammers pretending to be women.
- Always looking for mature men older than them ( people who might have money to lose )
- Mostly claim to be either somewhere in california or canada and runs her own business like an international trading company.
- Is interesed in investments but not in stock investments because they are too risky according to them..starts hinting at crypto.
-Will start saying that she wants to help you and will guide you how to do that.
- is extremely caring from the start.
- will quickly ask to talk on whatsapp or telegram ( favorite means of communiction for all crypto scammers) but will never do a video call. The whatsapp number is not a real phone number that you can call.
- They dont have any social media accounts and any pics they send you are fake pics from chinese/Asian dating sites. Yandex.com[1] image search is great at finding images of Chinese scammers on Chinese/Russian dating sites. The more savy ones might try to pass on someone elses Insta account as their own.
One of the numbers used by scammer is 5303163102 but they surely use a lot of them.
Most of these operations are run by mafia in China/southeast asia and these women/men are just frontend mules.
Dont end up losing your lives savings like I did. Remember that these people are professional manipulators and they wont even hesitate to sell their mama for a buck. If you think even slightly that the person you are chatting might be a scammer then immediately block them, do not wait and see.
Google 'Pig butchering' scam.

Ones that hit me up usually claim Los Angeles, Miami or Jacksonville. Been playing with one for a couple months that claims "she" is in Paducah Ky......i find amusement in playing along with them, and wasting their time

Also to be aware of: they are in it for the long haul. They will invest weeks or months to gain your trust, long as they see the potential profit gain. As OP suggests: soon as you get the feel you are getting scammed, just block, report, and move on.

Be aware of recovery scammers. Anyone who claims they can recover your crypto is a scammer. They're all over /r/scams and DM people who lost money. It's so bad we have an automod about it. The only people who can recover crypto is the FBI, and they're not going to be reaching out to you on Reddit.

I'm sorry this happened to you, OP. Good on you for going public and warning others. It's not easy to acknowledge being scammed.
Just a reminder for everyone: the whole point of crypto is that it doesn't run through intermediaries like banks.
If you get defrauded and lose money through a bank or credit transaction, *sometimes* they can get your money back. Not often, but sometimes. And occasionally at the least, if there's a pattern of transactions, this can help law enforcement find them eventually. Again, while it's very rare, it can happen.
But somebody scams you out of crypto? It's gone, man. Game over. Good luck taking your fraud complaint to Satoshi Nakamoto.
