View submission: Addressing the new video player

We totally get that the gestures are a bit awkward in our new player. We are actively working with our design and product team to make interactions simpler and more intuitive. Stay tuned!

Yes, please ensure that swiping the video up (and away) on iOS returns the user to their FEED as it does when viewing all other content. There will *never* be an occasion where we want the “dismiss” swipe up gesture to do anything else.

Any plans on addressing the video player playing random videos rather than videos on the page the user is browsing? Also that the player almost (when swiping down from an NSFW video) never loads up NSFW videos and instead pulls random videos from random subreddits that the user hasnt even previously visited?

Or you could just… bring back the old player that worked perfectly fine!!! Stop this bullshit y’all don’t give a fuck about your users this is all for money fuck this tik tok clone bullshit we all hate it just fix it or Reddit will continue to lose money, we will all leave for 3rd part apps.

Seriously just.. what in the actual fuck is wrong with you guys? Did all the devs simultaneously hit their heads so hard that they put out this stupid broken bulkshit?

Just fucking fix this bring back the old player and you can fix all these fucking problems you guys created.

No matter what you do to “fix” it the new player will always be trash, utter garbage.

Also, we swipe up to get to full screen from comment view, but swiping down doesn't return to comment view. That should be changed.

There's no reason to make the gestures any different than what we are used to using. Breaking expected behavior and the resulting disruption in ease of use is the biggest complaint I have. I just want to be able to browse video and image content in fullscreen with swipe gestures.

The new video player is simply terrible in design and non-user friendly. Is there a reason why Reddit can’t give users an option to use the old version?

Then why the fuck is the video player still essentially useless one month later?
