View submission: Addressing the new video player
We totally understand that the new full bleed player hasn’t been a great user experience so far. That said, we are working to improve the video player for everyone in a way that makes sense for all users and in a way that enables us to make changes quickly (rather than 10 different times on 10 different platforms).

Going to be frank, the decision to rebuild the whole video player from the ground up only for it to function completely different from what it used to, and yet still commit to this new and awkward fashion has settled it for me. I’m gonna delete the official app and opting to use Apollo from now on. I mean really the feedback has been loud and clear as to why we preferred the old style. I get having to build a new one, I have zero clue as to why you need to reinvent the wheel into a block.

Makes no sense at all the old player worked perfectly fine, everyone preferred it,
Now y’all broke it and added a terrible terrible player that is universally hated and instead of going back to what worked your trying to improve a pile of shit.
Reddit will continue to get 1 star ratings and users will continue to switch to 3rd party apps.
You’ve taken our mass outrage and concern, and spit in our faces.
Bring back the old player or soon nobody will use this app anymore, and Reddit will lose tons of money.
We don’t want a fucking tik tok clone video player, whoever is keeping this bulkshit going should be ashamed of themselves. I really hope this isn’t the devs decision and is a corporate one bc if it is you developers you should be absolutely ashamed in yourselves.
I get it if the corporate pigs are responsible, but the devs? Assuming it is the corporate pigs; let’s make them squeal. The only way to get through to them is to cut into their profits.
We’ll see how long they keep up this bullshit when they start losing money.
