View submission: Addressing the new video player
When we first decided to move videos over to our new player, we kept all nsfw-marked videos out for #hailcorporate reasons. We then changed our minds after initial launch for it to be - if a user taps an nsfw video in a feed, it will open in our new player (though for now, nsfw videos are never surfaced as recommendations).
After updating for this, we had an honest to goodness bug where we were still filtering out nsfw videos after opening the new player. We would launch the new player, but Instead of opening the nsfw video, Reddit would instead open a random non-nsfw video post. Our qa team missed the test case.
We quickly fixed this, but in doing so, introduced a new bug where nsfw videos were frozen. Luckily, we could revert this, but unfortunately had a bug on the scrubber/seeker when doing so (since the reverted codepath was not fully tested). So at this point, we had 2 not so fun choices:
1. Nsfw videos broken (for a second week), but scrubber works
2. Nsfw fixed, but scrubber broken
We chose #2 and quickly worked on a fix for the scrubber...and these bugs are squashed for now!

That makes sense, thank you for the answer! I'm sure whoever handles this has learned something from it

I understand the bug, but if I’m on a NSFW sub how am I supposed to easily scroll through videos? As of now it’ll only show me non-nsfw content so I have to watch a video, then back out and choose a new one instead of easily scrolling
