View submission: Removing sexually explicit content from r/all

Will you be creating an alternative to /r/all that does include NSFW content as well as SFW content?

Edit: the lack of a reply is very telling

I thought it was interesting to come across explicit content in r/all even if it wasn't always what I wanted to see. The reason I browse r/all is to avoid the filter bubble - it's interesting to see what's objectively the most popular content across the board at any moment.

Exactly. If /r/all isn’t all then really it should be renamed so that /r/all is all that /r/all can be.

This is my question too, I sometimes browse all specifically to find NSFW stuff from subreddits I might not know about. Why not just make it a toggle in the settings for seeing adult content on all?

Perhaps something that includes "all" content. Wonder what we should call it

Easy answer is to have a toggle... Default nsfw content off but someone can make an account then toggle it on for themselves.

No, because accessible NSFW content is bad for ad revenue. This is the first step in eventually banning NSFW content to get those sweet, sweet high-end advertiser dollars a la Tumblr.

This is honestly going to drop my redditing time by a fuckton. Don’t know whether I should celebrate or cry.

We already have “home” and “all” has filters why not just have an NSFW filter and have it off by default? I know that’s what this is proposing but the wording is making me think a blanket ban isn’t off the table.

Edit: hell “popular” exists for a reason, this just seems stupid.

It's telling that Reddit is going to LOSE ad revenue to third party sites that do it for them.

Money talks and if they were smart they would use at least *one* brain cell to figure out that people use /r/all in every way except the reason they created /r/all in the first place.

I sincerely hope that they realize that people use Reddit for every reason under the sun, and that supporting those reasons is why the site has succeeded. They clearly think that they are above being responsive to the concerns and needs of their users that isn't simply a restriction, deletion, or filter. They haven't added a feature in ten years that users actually asked for.

I fear they will go the way of Myspace, Yahoo, and the forums of old that were once the pinnacle of discussion and a dynamic place to just hang out. These places couldn't adapt and died.
