Hello all,
Moving to Parklands next month and have to travel to Century City every day and I am wondering what the area Is like. (A friend is letting me stay with them so I can't choose anywhere else) And I have a few other questions I'm hoping to have answered. (Might seem annoying but even the dumbest/simplest answers are good as iv grew up in a very very protective household with helicopter parents so I'm aware I'm quite ignorant in some situations so any info would be great)
Is the area Safe for a Young white female to walk around alone? As well as any safety tips when walking around (I E no earphones, hidden bag? anything you would deem common sense as well lol) I would like to start getting fit by walking around so this would be ideal to know about.
How is the bus system in that area? (is it Late? or Early? on time? or non-existent) if the bus system doesn't work I'll have to Uber most of the time. If Uber isn't safe then does anyone have recommendations for transport apps? Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get my license.
Is it a high-crime area? break-in/theft etc ( any way to identify if you're being targeted?)
Also recreational-wise, are there many activities to do for fun, a gym? Cafes? a public library? A park?
What's the social scene like as well? I'm quite introverted but would like to grow meet new people and make friends while living up there.
Is Century City a safe area to walk to as well? ( the outer edge near parklands)
Cant think of any other questions at the moment but if anything comes to your mind please comment them below.
Thanks.

Live in Parklands. Relocated here about 10 years ago from JHB. There are some dodgy spots in Parklands but for the majority of the area it's safe. I work in Century City as well. Daily commute can be insane at peak times. It's 12km away but can sometimes take 45 minutes or thereabouts to get there in peak traffic.

In general, Parklands is about as safe as any other decent suburb. They have a metric fuckton of neighborhood watches and private security, so the big problem is usually late night breakins. I would recommend staying away from Gie Road and Parklands East for walking. They're not Hotspots, but if anything is going to happen in broad daylight, it would be there. Gie gets super busy during the day, so it's also actually fine then. Parklands North pretty nice. Century city is well controlled and really good with safety, walkways, security, cameras, all of it... also rather busy during the day and night, a lot of people walking around.

Parklands is affectionately known as great land of traffic circles.

Parklands is like most other suburbs - there are some dodgy parts, but mostly it's fine. Nowhere in SA is completely crime free.
There are loads of gyms to choose. Table View library is the nearest one, but there's also Bloubergstrand, Milnerton and Dunoon libraries. There are many shopping centres and malls, and the parking is usually free for at least the first hour. You'll find all shops here. The beach is only 5k away - lots of restaurants in that area (Bloubergstrand, Big Bay).
MyCiti is very useful, but don't expect it to be like a first world country's public transport system. Uber is fine to use, but may become costly if you have to travel far.
It's relatively safe to walk around Parklands in daytime - just be careful like you should be anywhere else.
Century City is very safe because of CCTV, but it's about 15 - 20 minutes away from Parklands by car - hardly on the outer edge of Parklands. You have several neighbourhoods in between, and will definitely not be able to walk between Parklands and CC. But you can take the MyCiti there.

Parklands anything above main road (towards melkbos) is considered larny, anything below is slightly more impoverished (but like any suburb in many of CT areas, good/bad) I do walk around feeling fine, but I'm a male and would not let my wife walk around alone on he same routes, might be a hypocrite but is what it is
Getting to century city the mycity drops you off very close to basically any part of it, very convenient but can add some travel time. About 15mins away with car no traffic, if you leave in peak time cab be upwards of an hour, especially between 7-8 it's madness getting out of sunningdale/parklands/tableview in general
