He hates Canada, end of story. So now any snowbird in the US will want to dump their property which is probably the point of the exercise. I hear lots of negativity from Florida coming out now, how they hate people from Quebec, Canadians and don't need our money, etc. It's okay now to openly say it apparently.

Yah, too many 70+ year olds committing crimes in Florida. It needs to be stopped!

How about we stop letting American criminals apply for waivers at the border. Make them apply at the visa office like everyone else?

Also why is it everyone else needs a visa or eta to travel to Canada but the country responsible for all the smuggling into Canada doesn’t.

All the Carribean countries definitely should step up their tourism efforts in Canada.

And this is how you inflict damage on a substantial part of the economies of Florida and Arizona.

My parents were snowbirds.  2 months a year in Florida. Rented a home. Spent money on groceries, golf, restaurants, boat rentals.

They are not going in the near future. I sent them this and my mother is livid.

We are talking one family and tens of thousand of dollars sucked out of the Florida economy.  One of many.

What a stupid stupid move.

The very easy solution would be to stop going to the hostile totalitarian state to the south. You may find yourself locked up for being a foreign "spy". It is not safe to go there anymore.

Dirty pool. They’re doing everything they possibly can to pressure us to join them without/before military intervention.

I saw one of Trump’s puppets complain about how we “take advantage” of their beautiful weather. If we want to “skip winter” we need to become a state.

I guess the political genius doesn’t comprehend that we come with Canadian money to spend inside the American economy. He won’t have that problem any longer.

Spend your money in Canada people. At least for the foreseeable future. This should be obvious

Yes, please make it more tedious and onerous to visit your country and spend our money there.

Have y’all not noticed that most of the snowbird destinations are red states? When a snowbird stays home, does that make you think that you have won something?

I hear the Caribbean, Spain, Italy, and Greece are excellent destinations for Canadians looking to escape the cold winters, and now that the USA is so hostile, the paperwork required to visit those other places will not seem so bad.

One component of Anschluss was intentionally restricting travel. The next red flag to look out for is demands for integrated banking systems.

Did they by chance update the article? Because it specifically says Canadians are exempt from the fingerprinting requirements.

Wtf is going on, America is not a place to visit anymore. America treating Canadians like criminals, so much for open borders.

Guadeloupe, Martinique, Costa Rica, Mexico, Belize etc .... there are other places than Florida to be a snow bird.

If I was in charge of tourism marketing for the French caribbean departments of Guadeloupe and Martinique I would run ads in Quebec media to the effect of:

"Plus chaud que la Floride, pas d'empreintes digitales, et nous parlons votre langue. " (Warmer than Florida, no fingerprints, and we speak your language."

There are other options.

I wonder if Nexus card holders will still need fingerprinting, since fingerprinting is part of the Nexus application

I imagine this would be a turning point for many who don't follow politics, or didn't care. Being fingerprinted at the border after years of not being bothered will make many feel like criminals.

This does not apply if you have ever been issued an I94 (even if expired!). If you've entered by an airport, you have almost certainly been issued an I94. At a land crossing the agent sometimes issues it, but not always (but you can request one).

You can check here[1] to see if you have an I94.

They've updated the headline here - "Canadians exempted from fingerprinting for U.S. travel under new Homeland Security rules". So the fingerprinting rules do not apply to Canadians.
