Does the American population understand that this is a hostile annexation attack on a peaceful neighbour? Does it remind them of anything?

I am so at my wits end with this crap. I will never ever be part of the 51st state. And honestly I wish he would just shut the fuck up. The hatred brewing for the a hole is unreal. Who does he think we are ?

How can we be the 51 state when the US is clearly now the 47 province of Russia 🤔

Why are the world leaders normalizing this? He wants to takeover the sovereign lands of Palestine, Greenland, Panama, and Canada. Attack Mexico, and give Ukraine to Russia.

"Canada offering to Liberate US states from dementia riddled facist administration." There is fixed the headline for them.

For our American friends who don’t understand the tax system here in Canada: The average American earns $40,000 per year. If you compare an American living in New York State to a Canadian living in Ontario, the Canadian pays $838 more per year in income tax. However, we don’t pay for healthcare, lower-income Canadians get free dental care, and some pharmaceuticals are also free.

So when Trump talks about lower income taxes, he’s right—but where it really makes a difference is for the rich.

Honestly, basically no one I know in my small town in Michigan has any idea about any of this. They either don't follow shit, or think Canada wants to be a state because the "US" is so great. It's a mix of indifference, idiocy, and the trained belief that the "US" is the best, despite a bunch of stuff proving that false.

I almost guarantee that if we do go to war, half the country won't even know. They don't watch the news. They don't follow politics. All they do is listen to some podcasts and stick with their sports teams. US stuck people in isolationist echo chambers and no one wants to leave and actually pay attention until it's too late. That or they think he's joking and I just can't understand the blind trust in someone you know is lying more then half the time. It's sickening.

I've been saying this for months. He will change the constitution so he can stay in office as long as he wants. This is his goal. Then he wants his jerk of a son to take over. He's a dictator.

You know that kid that comes over to you while you are quietly playing in the sandbox...and steals your shovel, bucket...then 5 minutes later wants the sand too......well here he is all grown up

"Flow of undocumented immigrants and fentanyl into the United States," sez the photo caption. But the photo itself shows the traffic going NORTH at the I-5 truck crossing into Canada. Substantially more accurate than they intended it to be, anyway! Well done NYT, you Ross Douthat-employing buffoons.

There is no return, just forward. Trump, Elon, the Republicans & Project 2025 have demolished whatever unity we had, trade and otherwise. Trump's term ends January 20, 2029.

Donald Trump declared economic war on Canada with the intent to annex us and he continues to threaten us with annexation and more tariffs. We aren't at war with most American citizens, just Trump and his band of bandits.

The New York Times calling statehood a threat tells us all we need to know about how America treats its' people and how much worse it will treat Canadians.

The Tariffs can disappear.  But the anger he is stirring up in Canada will continue in the form of consumer boycotts for years to come.  Good job destroying the American brand, dumb shit!

Alright I'm really done with our politicians "fighting" to remain friends with a nation that's extremely hostile towards us and doesn't view our country as a " real " place.

Ill gladly vote to join the EU. Then once things are signed, oil deals etc are established, pull the plug on literally everything.

I can't deal with this shit anymore. Just stop

Americans are convinced that US citizenship is the greatest gift anyone can receive. "Why wouldn't Canadians want that?"

In all seriousness, name one thing US citizenship grants me that I don't already have?

Trump can go fuck himself.

Statehood should only be for those who want it. You Canucks don't.

Rapists don't get that no means no
