As discussed in a recent thread[2], we're going to look at switching up the header image on a more regular basis - don't worry, we'll save the current one for special occasions. This is something of an experiment, and due to the subreddit CSS we'll be looking for images that are compatible with the general design, so don't be offended if we don't immediately use everyone's!

Interested? Send us a modmail[3] with subject: "Banner Images" with your best build pictures! In the interests of higher res displays, please ensure images are at least 1920px by 200px.

Can we get a copypasta to explain why there's shortages? There's a ton of questions about I daily, and I want to inform but I can only type out Covid + holidays = no stock so many times.

I'm about to build a new rig, but I'm gonna cannibalize my ram, an SSD, and an nvme m.2. I've done a backup and I think I've got everything ready to move over component-wise. I have my Windows product key in case the transfer to the new mobo doesn't work automatically. Is there anything else I need to do to be able to sell the mobo and cpu safely without worrying about any data, product keys, etc.? Honestly not sure if this is a dumb question. I think everything that's "me" is on my ssd and m.2. Do I need to go into Bios and reset anything so its back to default settings more or less for new user? Or will that happen automatically when they put a new cpu into it? Any advice would be great. Thank you in advance. Sorry if this isn't "simple" enough

Hi! I'm changing some parts in my computer, spesifically the psu, mobo, cpu and ram. I'm keeping my m.2 nvme drive, the case and gpu (for now). What do I do about the storage before changing the other components? Do I have to wipe it clean? Do I have to do a fresh windows install? I tried googling but found some conflicting answers.. Thanks in advance!

My case is Bequiet PureBase 500DX. I have a 240mm arctic AIO mounted on top. One 140mm exhaust fan on the rear. With an AIO on top, should i maintain negative pressure, putting one fan at lower rpm on the front, or should i make it positive with 2 140mm blasting air? I feel like with AIO on top positive pressure will create some turbulence.

Is it worth spending the money on higher end SSDs, HDDs, and motherboard in the case that I will want to upgrade the other stuff later on if my needs change?

Okay, can anyone explain PCIe lanes to me? I'm looking at this graphic[1] and I'm a bit confused. From what I understand, I get 24 PCIe lanes from my CPU right? 16 of those would go to my GPU and 4 will be going to my NVME drive on my primary m.2 slot, the other 4 will go to the chipset? Where are the 10 flexible lanes coming from? Can I use those as well in addition to the 4 extra from the CPU? SATA ports take up 4 lanes as well?

I'm a bit confused about the whole case fan situation. I purchased a Gigabyte B450M DS3H Mobo before realizing that it only has 1 fan header for case fan. The case I got has 1 3-pin fan included in the back. I wanted to add another, so I got a noctua redux 4-pin PWM fan (before I was aware of the single header).

I found splitters like this, which say both 3 pin and 4pin are supported. Just wondering if I can connect both, and would both of them have their speed controlled. And if so, is there an order I should connect them in? I.e. first one being the 3-pin, then second one being 4-pin? Any changes to the Mobo settings?

If I buy a 8gb 3200 stick of ram and temporarily use it with 2x4gb 2400 ram, when I buy the 2nd 8gb stick will the 1st one be stuck at 2400mhz?

This SSD[1] is Gen4.0 interface and was wondering if there's any downsides to that besides not having a Gen4 motherboard?

Otherwise, wouldn't this be a pretty good deal since the read/write is a lot faster than like Samsung 970?

Saw a link to a Google docs that had a bunch of discords to follow for in stock alerts. Anyone have that link?

Edit: Found it incase anyone else wanted it. May take a few tries but people have been reporting success after a few days. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1E_VPYK6Pw1Yy5z-DCMU98r6Vi2ktIplQIjpbAuLXmJE/edit?usp=drivesdk

Just brought home a used PC and it booted straight into Windows. Appears he didn't reset to factor settings. When I reset it is there any way to keep my Windows 10 without the key?
