I never read Harry Potter growing up, is it worth a shot? I saw the first movie as a kid and I enjoyed it but I don't remember much. (Although it was like 13 years ago)

I hope people read the essay and don't just judge the title - it's a short essay about the value of fiction, based around a quote by Virginia Woolf.
When I was in school I leaned hard towards fiction, but in college I got to love non-fiction, particularly historical narratives and scientific analyses. The latter grounds me about the real world and educates me on the facts of how we got to where we are, and the former keeps me curious and imaginative about the world as I move through it in real time. There's great value in both, and I have a hard time accepting that one is 'better.'
